Timothy holds a Bachelor of Jazz Performance from the University of Manitoba, and has studied with Miles Okazaki, author of “Fundamentals Of Guitar” (Mel Bay 21015), a cutting edge approach to learning the essentials of the guitar. Timothy bases his method in part on Okazaki’s system. Students will learn improvisation, ear training, music theory, and creative exploration on the guitar. Working with popular music based on individual interests, students will also engage with standard music notation. For older students who are looking for an increased understanding of music theory and for whom standard notation is intimidating, Timothy has a system for bypassing staff notation, instead relating each concept back to a creative and practical use on the guitar. Timothy is equipped to teach all ages and skill levels.
